Michael Kwon focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, including trademark, copyright and patent disputes as applied to a wide variety of technologies, including software disputes. Mr. Kwon enjoys probing deep into legal issues and connecting the law with the facts to create winning solutions for his client’s objectives. Mr. Kwon also prosecutes trademarks and works with the Firm’s network of foreign associates to procure counterpart foreign patent and trademark protection.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Kwon had extensive experience in designing and developing mission-critical software systems for satellite communications, telecommunications network error and fraud detection, and large-scale data center operation, as well as strategic financial systems for Wall Street firms, on a wide range of platforms, including the Cray supercomputer. He also served as the director of network engineering for a Fortune 200 company for seven years.

Mr. Kwon invented a high-security electronic door lock that was widely praised in the locksmith industry as a superb door lock “built like a tank.” His own experience as an inventor prosecuting a patent application helps him better understand his client’s perspective.

Mr. Kwon devotes much time to serving the community and has served on the boards of the local chapter of United Way, a regional hospital, a non-profit adult vocational school, and other cultural and educational organizations.
